I would like to share about installing and configuring a mail server in Linux Ubuntu using iRedMail as Mail Traansfer Agent (MTA). So on this topic, I will give you the basic guide on how you can setup iRedMail on Ubuntu Server. We will test if we can send or receive emails from different email senders on different domains. Before Setting Up iRedMail on UbuntuBefore running into iRedMail setup, just make sure you meet the following requirements to make your mail server up and running.
Installing iRedMail on Ubuntu ServerBefore installing iRedMail on Ubuntu, change the hostname of your server to something like - servername.yourdomain.com Just open hostname file at /etc/hostname and edit. Change also the hosts in /etc/hosts . Type in edit command. vi /etc/hosts and change the entry like for example: 127.0.0.1 servername.yourdomain.com localhost Then restart ubuntu server. Download iRedMail on their website and copy that one to the root folder of the ubuntu server for easy access. You can use WinSCP tool for accessing the folders via SSH connection. Go to that folder where the iRedMail is located then extract the installer like this command: tar xfj iRedMail-XXXX.tar.bz2 Then after this tar file is extracted, open to that folder and execute iRedMail.bash Follow the on screen setup bellow as an example.
